    noise reduction
  • Noise reduction is the process of removing noise from a signal. Noise reduction techniques are conceptually very similar regardless of the signal being processed, however a priori knowledge of the characteristics of an expected signal can mean the implementations of these techniques vary greatly

  • The absorption of sound vibrations. Fluoropolymer coatings form good noise dampening surfaces.

  • In noise reduction mode, the camera takes two shots: the normal shot and one with the same exposure time but with the shutter closed. It is then able to determine the areas of an individual image that are susceptible to noise and compensate for this.

  • Headphones is the self-titled debut album by Headphones. The album features David Bazan on keyboards, and Frank Lenz (of Starflyer 59) on drums. Tim Walsh (formerly of Pedro the Lion) also contributed to the recording, albeit sparsely, as Bazan attested in November 2006: . . .

  • Headphones are a pair of small loudspeakers, or less commonly a single speaker, with a way of holding them close to a user's ears and a means of connecting them to a signal source such as an audio amplifier, radio or CD player. They are also known as stereophones, headsets or, colloquially cans.

  • A pair of earphones typically joined by a band placed over the head, for listening to audio signals such as music or speech

  • (headphone) earphone: electro-acoustic transducer for converting electric signals into sounds; it is held over or inserted into the ear; "it was not the typing but the earphones that she disliked"

  • Lacking or not requiring wires

  • radio: medium for communication

  • having no wires; "a wireless security system"

  • transmission by radio waves

Adobe Lightroom 3: Noise Reduction

Adobe Lightroom 3: Noise Reduction

Very impressed with the Noise Reduction in Adobe Lightroom 3.
This was taken at ISO 1600 and you can see the before and after shots.

Wish I could workout how to copy the exif data in Lightroom to the Windows clipboard. Can do it in Bridge CS5 but I am unable to select it in Lightroom 3.

Noise Reduction at ISO 25600

Noise Reduction at ISO 25600

This shows the quality of the Nikon D7000's noise reduction for an image taken at ISO 25600. The noise reduction was at the normal (middle) setting. Noticeable loss of image detail with noise reduction turned on when viewed at full size.
